This is the double stroller that you need in case you're looking for a lightweight stroller that is easy to push with one hand. It's also easy to transport up and down the stairs.

It features a pair of fixed seats and offers the possibility of up to 30 seating configurations (including triple!). Both seats come with UPF 50+ canopies with windows that can be seen from a distance.

Size

The Joovy Kooper X2 is a side-by-side double twin stroller side by side that can accommodate two children of at up to 50lbs each. Its seats are larger sized than those of other lightweight double twin strollers for newborns, and the canopies have spacious SPF 50 sunshades, with peekaboo windows. Other notable features include a self-standing basket with the capacity of 25lbs, cup holders for one parent and swing-away bars to help kids to get into and out of their seats. It is a great choice for suburban and urban families. It is also newborn ready with the double kit which includes a newborn wedgie for the perfect lie-flat position.

Weight

The weight of a double buggies will determine its ability to push. A lighter buggy is simpler to lift and transport, but may not have enough suspension to deal with bumps and uneven terrain.

Most double buggies come with the capacity to hold a maximum weight for each seat and some have total frame weight limits and it's important to know the specifics of each model prior to you buy. Some double jogging stroller buggies are able to be folded with the seats removed, which makes them smaller and lighter. This is helpful if you are limited on storage space.

The tri-fold doubles tend to be the lightest, since only one hand is needed to lift the lower and back sections. They are also smaller than side-by-side buggies, making them a good choice to fit through doorways. The iCandy Geo 3 is one of the lightest tri-fold doubles on the market and can comfortably hold twins or a toddler and a baby.

Tandem buggies are ideal for families that are growing because they begin as a single stroller and can be adapted to include a second seat, car seat or carrycot. Some, such as the iCandy Orange offer over 30 different seating configurations, meaning they can grow along with your family with a third child. They are heavier than tri-folds, however, because the weight is more evenly dispersed, they are more comfortable to move around.

Folding

The best double buggies designed for small children fold up in seconds. Our Lab experts appreciate this feature as it helps them fit the buggies into the back of their cars and free up storage space when they are not in use. The Joovy Kooper X2 for example comes with straps that can be pulled up over each seat and the entire thing folds down. Even our most experienced testers could do this tri-fold in just one hand.

The lightweight Delta Children LX Side by Side is another good choice for a small double buggies. Its lightweight weight is an advantage however, it also has some great features including large pop-out canopy with SPF 50 and peekaboo windows swing-away bars to help youngsters get in and out of the seats; and reclined seats and leg rests designed for younger children.

Manoeuvrability

One of the most important aspects to take into consideration when selecting a compact double buggy is its manoeuvrability, particularly how easy it is to get around with two children on board. Some pushchairs, for instance the iCandy Orange with its 'cinema seating' (where the back seat is elevated) are better at this than others.

Narrow tandem buggies can be good at this, as are side-by-side designs. These buggies can be a little longer and could be difficult to maneuver through doorways.

The UPPAbaby Vista 2 pushchair twin is a great example, as it's a narrow model that allows for two seats in addition to the most important thing is an auxiliary board that can be used to accommodate a third child.

Other smaller, three-wheeled models, like the phil&teds Dot are also extremely agile. This is particularly true with its clever "dot kit" which transforms it into an inline buggie. It comes with two seating arrangements for children of various ages, and the front seat can be rotated so that it faces the parents for an intimate bonding experience. It has an ample storage basket and is easy to fold. This is a great solution for families with growing children.

Comfort

Parents can keep both children within sight at the park, grocery store or anywhere else with narrow tandem buggies or side-by-side buggies. These lightweight doubles are able to accommodate two children up to 50 lbs each. They also come with pop-out canopy which can be extended enough to provide real shade.
